What's For Snack: Healthy Snacks for Kids

After School Snack Ideas

Have you ever faced the struggle of trying to get your little one to eat a healthy dinner when they’re too tired to even chew?!

Here’s a game-changing parenting hack: serve them a hearty and nutritious snack/meal right after school! 🍏🌶️

Some Snack Ideas that my kids eat after school are:

Fruits and Vegetables

  1. Apple Slices with Peanut Butter: Slice apples and serve with a small amount of peanut butter or any nut butter.
  2. Veggies: Carrot sticks, cucumber slices, and bell peppers.
  3. Fresh Berries: strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries.

Dairy and Protein

    1. Yogurt Parfaits: Layers of Greek yogurt, fresh berries, and a sprinkle of granola.
    2. Grilled Cheese or Cheese and Crackers: Whole grain bread or crackers served with slices of cheese.
    3. Nuts and Seeds: Pumpkin seeds, cashews, almonds, pistachios.

You can catch them at their hungriest and most energetic state just when they get home from school. Likely to be less picky about what they’ll eat. It’s a win-win for both frustrated parents and ravenous kids!  Plus, it takes the pressure off dinner allowing for a more pleasant meal for all parties.  Happy Snacking!
